Milton Berle’s nugget of wisdom
Milton Berle for those who are not familiar was a comedian who was extremely popular in the 40 and 50s as Television came into prominence. he had an extremely long career working in television and in the movies almost up to his death in 2002.
As a comedian, he had a quick wit and is credited with this famous quote.
“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”.
We shouldn’t blame the current situation at hand. If the opportunity doesn’t exist, make one.
How refreshing! Most of us forget that we do have the power to do that. Initially it might be a small creaky door but more you try at it, the door will be sturdier and nicer and nicer.
Here are few examples of successful folks who just this.
Entrepreneurs who create whole new categories that did not exist.
Steve Jobs at Apple did this with the Iphone. Without him, we would all still be pressing one those keypads and squinting at small screens.
Make your own door if a door you are knocking on doesn’t answer. These guys and many others did and you can too.
