The Story of a father’s unstoppable love for his son. Rick Hoyt’s story

June 9, 2017 By Kris

Truly inspirational story about a Father’s unstoppable love for his son

This is a story of Rick Hoyt who was born with Cerebral Palsy, who wanted to participate in a 5 mile benefit run. Rick’s father Dick Hoyt who was not an athlete by any means finished next to last but when Rick told him “Dad, when I am running, it feels like I am not handicapped.”, started a run (No pun intended) of over 1000 races completed encompassing marathons, triathlons and even 6 iron man competitions. They even ran across America in 1992 in 45 days.

More than the story of a loving father, this is a story of a family that refused to institutionalize his son despite being advised to do so. Despite the odds stacked against them, they believed that his son can live a normal life. Their dedication and belief resulted in their son attending public school at the age of 13, and ultimately graduated from Boston University in 1993 with a degree in Special Education.

Dick and Rick Hoyt now lead The Hoyt Foundation focused on building individual character, self confidence and self esteem in disabled young people.

What an amazing story and it goes to show love of a father and of family can transcend anything.

Happy upcoming Father’s day!

There is not much information on this spinner except that I saw it spinning and was impressed by the gorgeous design. Not sure if it is a practical EDC for me since it is a big spinner compared to others I have seen. No price listed and looks like more of a one time concept spinner made by Premium Spinners.

A post shared by Top Spinner Videos ? (@top.fidgets) on May 2, 2017 at 5:42pm PDT

Rotablade Pendulum is a brand new unique fidget toy based on the double pendulum and the theory of chaos. It is not a normal uniform spinning toy but the complete opposite meaning every time you fidget with the Pendulum it will be a different experience entirely.

The ways of fidgeting with this toy are endless but so far you can flick it, generate endless spins, spin 1 or both arms and many more.

The theory of chaos and random motion is the basis of this toy and the Pendulum moves in an unpredictable random way which will keep you constantly fidgeting with it whilst holding your attention.

This is not a spinner and if you are use to one it will take you time to adjust to its functions.

Please note Case sold separately.

Fully extended from centre of grip to end of weight 17mm x 20mm x 52.5mm

Life Lessons: Martin Luther King Jr’s Amazing Life’s Blue print

March 15, 2017 By Kris

Powerful lesson in life from Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King, Jr in his speech to students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia on October 26, 1967, where he delivered his speech “What Is Your Life’s Blueprint?”, he laid out three powerful principles of life that everyone should know and live by. His principles are timeless and should be shared far and wide. Below are his principles. Be inspired!

1. Deep belief in your dignity, your own worth and your own sombodiness.

  • Don’t allow anybody make you feel that you are nobody.
  • Always feel that you count.
  • Always feel that you have worth, and
  • Always feel that your life has ultimate significance

2. you must have as a basic principle, the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor.

  • Set out to fine what you will do in life.
  • Once you find out, set out to do it and do it well.

3. Commitment to the eternal principles of beauty, love and justice.

  • Don’t allow anybody to pull you so low as to make you hate them.
  • Don’t allow anybody to cause you to lose your self-respect to the point that you do not struggle for justice

Full speech and video below.

“I want to ask you a question, and that is: What is in your life’s blueprint? This is a most important and crucial period of your lives for what you do now and what you decide now at this age may well determine which way your life shall go. Whenever a building is constructed, you usually have an architect who draws a blueprint, and that blueprint serves as the pattern, as the guide, as the model for those who are to build the building, and a building is not well erected without a good, sound and solid blueprint.

Now each of you is in the process of building the structure of your lives, and the question is whether you have a proper, a solid and a sound blueprint. I want to suggest some of the things that should be in your life’s blueprint.

Number one in your life’s blueprint should be a deep belief in your own dignity, your own worth and your own somebodiness. Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you are nobody. Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance…

Secondly, in your life’s blueprint you must have as a basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor. You’re going to be deciding as the days and the years unfold what you will do in life, what your life’s work will be. And once you discover what it will be, set out to do it, and to do it well.

And I say to you, my young friends, that doors are opening to each of you, doors of opportunity to each of you that were not open to your mothers and your fathers and the great challenge facing you is to be ready to enter these doors as they open.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, the great essayist, said, in a lecture back in 1871, that “If a man can write a better book or preach a better sermon or make a better mousetrap than his neighbor, even if he builds his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.”

That hadn’t always been true, but it will become increasingly true, and so I would urge you to study hard, to burn the midnight oil; I would say to you, don’t drop out of school. I understand all the sociological reasons why we often drop out of school, but I urge you, in spite of your economic plight, in spite of the situation that you are forced to live so often with intolerable conditions, stay in school.

And when you discover what you are going to be in life, set out to do it as if God Almighty called you at this particular moment in history to do it…If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept well. If you can’t be a pine at the top of the hill, be a scrub in the valley. But be the best little scrub on the side of the hill. Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail. If you can’t be the sun, be a star. For it isn’t by size that you win or you fail. Be the best of whatever you are…

And finally, in your life’s blueprint must be a commitment to the eternal principles of beauty, love and justice. Don’t allow anybody to pull you so low as to make you hate them. Don’t allow anybody to cause you to lose your self-respect to the point that you do not struggle for justice…Let us keep going toward the goal of self-hood, to the realization of the dream of brotherhood and toward the realization of the dream of understanding good will

..We must keep moving, we must keep going. If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. But by all means, keep moving.”

Randy Pausch’s Inspiring Speech on how to live your life well

February 18, 2017 By Kris

Wisdom from a dying college professor on life

“We don’t beat the reaper by living longer. We beat the reaper by living more fully.” –Randy Pausch

There is a famous saying, live everyday as if it was your last. Are we truly doings things in our daily life is meaningful to us?

Don’t let small or even big things affect how we enjoy one life we have.

Randy Pausch was a professor Computer Science at Carnegie Mellion who learns that he has pancreatic cancer in September 2006 and ultimately given a terminal diagnosis in August 2007 with 3 to 6 months of good health left to live.

In his commencement speech in May 2008, he lays out his advice on how to live life well.

Randy Pausch died of complications few months later on July 25th in 2008.

  1. “It is not the things that we do in life that we regret on our dead bed, it is the things we do not.”
  2. Don’t let stupid things and mistake bother you. Go for it.
  3. Passion. Find your passion. Don’t give up on finding your passion if you have not no matter how late.
  4. Passion must come from things that fuel you from inside.
  5. Passion is not in any things or money.
  6. Passion is grounded in people and relationship you have in people and what they think of you when your time comes.

Never give up. Arthur Boorman’s Inspirational Story

February 15, 2017 By Kris

Never giving up and being consistent and persistent toward your goal can achieve powerful things.

Below story from Diamond Dallas Youtube Page

Arthur Boorman was a disabled veteran of the Gulf War for 15 years, and was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own, ever again.

He stumbled upon an article about Diamond Dallas Page doing Yoga and decided to give it a try — he couldn’t do traditional, higher impact exercise, so he tried DDP YOGA and sent an email to Dallas telling him his story.

Dallas was so moved by his story, he began emailing and speaking on the phone with Arthur throughout his journey – he encouraged Arthur to keep going and to believe that anything was possible. Even though doctors told him walking would never happen, Arthur was persistent. He fell many times, but kept going.

Arthur was getting stronger rapidly, and he was losing weight at an incredible rate! Because of DDP’s specialized workout, he gained tremendous balance and flexibility — which gave him hope that maybe someday, he’d be able to walk again.

His story is proof, that we cannot place limits on what we are capable of doing, because we often do not know our own potential. Niether Arthur, nor Dallas knew what he would go on to accomplish, but this video speaks for itself. In less than a year, Arthur completely transformed his life. If only he had known what he was capable of, 15 years earlier.

Do not waste any time thinking you are stuck – you can take control over your life, and change it faster than you might think.

Hopefully this story can inspire you to follow your dreams – whatever they may be.

Anything is Possible!

Randy Pausch’s Inspirational Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

February 11, 2017 By Kris

What would you do differently if tomorrow was your last?

Do you know Randy Pausch?

He was a professor Computer Science at Carnegie Mellion who learns that he has pancreatic cancer in September 2006 and ultimately given a terminal diagnosis.

Knowing that his time at best was at best 3 to 6 months according to his doctors, he gave a positively inspiring lecture at his school called “The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood’s Dream”. This became a wildly popular video on Youtube.

He also co-authored a booked titled The Last Lecture which became a New York Times Best Seller.

It is a truly inspirational lecture that everyone should see. Our lives are short. Our time is too valuable to waste on people, situations that are toxic to our lives.

Don’t live in the past and waste the present. Live today and don’t give a damn about other people’s opinion of you.

Sunday inspirations. I dreamed I had an Interview with God

February 5, 2017 By Kris

I Dreamed I had an Interview with God.

We live such busy lives. Even weekends are littered with errands, to-dos and catch ups.

We lose sight of the fact of what we are living for and before you know it, it is too late.

Time is a resource that we have a limited amount of. How will we spend this precious resource?

Interview with God is eye opening. Enjoy!

Interview with God

“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.

“If you have the time”, I said … God Smiled.

“My time is eternity, … what questions do you have in mind for me?”

“What surprises you most about humankind?”

God answered.

“That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up and then long to be children again”

“That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.”

“That by thinking anxiously about the future, that they forget the present, such that they live neither in the present or the future.”

“That they live as if they will never die and die as if they had never lived.”

God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.  And then I asked.

“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons that you want your children to learn?”

God replied with a smile.

“To learn they cannot make anyone love them, what they can do is let themselves be loved.”

“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to other.”

“To learn that a rich person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.”

“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love and it takes many years to heal them.”

“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”

“To learn that there are persons who love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings.”

“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”

‘To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they must forgive themselves.”

“And to learn that I am here … ALWAYS.”
